  PENOBSCOT...AND NORTHERN AND CENTRAL PISCATAQUIS COUNTIES.

* HAZARD TYPES...SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...4 to 8 inches.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...around a trace.

* TIMING...SPREADING NORTH DURING THE EVENING TUESDAY... LIKELY
  NOT REACHING THE SAINT JOHN VALLEY UNTIL AROUND MIDNIGHT. THE
  STEADY PRECIPITATION WILL END BY LATE MORNING WEDNESDAY.

* IMPACTS...SNOWFALL AND FREEZING RAIN WILL RESULT IN SOME TRAVEL
  DIFFICULTIES WITH ROADS SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY.

* WINDS...Southeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO THIS AFTERNOON THEN
  Rising TO 10 TO 15 ABOVE BY DAYBREAK WEDNESDAY.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Fredericton and Southern York County
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

A warm front approaching from the southwest will bring snow this evening. The snow will change to ice pellets overnight, then to freezing rain Wednesday morning. The freezing rain should then persist for approximately 4 or 5 hours until a changeover to rain early Wednesday afternoon.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
A warm front is forecast to approach New Brunswick later today. Snow ahead of the front will begin this evening over southwestern regions of the province and will spread to the remainder of the province overnight. Most regions will see the snow change to ice pellets and then to freezing rain on Wednesday morning with some rain likely for southern New Brunswick Wednesday afternoon. Snowfall amounts near 10 cm can be expected over most regions with lesser amounts along the Fundy coast. Snowfall amounts of 10 to possibly 15 cm are expected over northernmost regions. Freezing rain duration of 2 to 3 hours can be expected over most regions Wednesday morning with warnings for a longer duration currently in effect for western central regions of the province. Additional freezing rain warnings may become necessary later today as the situation evolves.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
A warm front is forecast to approach Nova Scotia later today. Snow ahead of the front has begun over southwestern regions and will spread to the remainder of the province this afternoon and tonight. Most regions can expect to see the snow change to ice pellets and then to freezing rain on Wednesday before tapering to showers during the day. Snowfall amounts of up to 10 centimetres are forecast.

Currently 2 to 3 hours of freezing rain can be expected. But, it is possible that some areas may experience a slightly longer duration especially over northern regions, including Cape Breton.

Snow ahead of the front will begin overnight tonight and then change to ice pellets and freezing rain Wednesday morning, and to periods of rain near noon Wednesday. Snowfall amounts of up to 10 centimetres and freezing rain duration of up to 4 hours are currently forecast.
