Marine Forecast issued for Southwestern Grand Banks.
Issued: 3.30 PM NST on Monday 27 March 2006. Synopsis:
An intense low pressure system over the southern half of the southwestern Grand Banks at forecast time will move northeastward tonight and lie east of the northern Grand Banks Tuesday evening.
Gale to storm force east to northeast winds ahead of the low will shift to gale to storm force northwesterlies in it wake with strong northerlies forecast over Gulf of St Lawrence waters.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are continued for South Coast.. East Coast.. Northeast coast cape St John and south..
And the Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except northeast gulf and Gulf-Port au Port. A freezing spray warning is continued for Belle Isle.
Marine interests are also advised that high swells generated by a storm near Greenland are expected along northeast facing coasts of Newfoundland. There is some potential for coastal damage with pounding surf in conjunction with the strong onshore winds and high tides today and tonight.

Northeast gales 40 to 50 knots tonight and northwest gales 40 to 50 on Tuesday. Afternoon gusts to 60 near the coast on Tuesday. Snow Or rain tapering to flurries Tuesday morning. Fog patches lifting On Tuesday. Visibility fair to poor in precipitation and poor in Fog. Temperatures minus one to plus 2.
Outlook for Wednesday...Gale to storm force northwesterlies diminishing to strong to gale force northwesterlies late in the day.

Winds variable 15 to 25 knots increasing to northwest gales 40 to 50 this evening. Gales diminishing to northwest gales 35 to 40 Tuesday evening. Showers. Fog patches lifting this evening.
Visibility fair in showers and poor in fog. Little temperature change.
Outlook for Wednesday...Gale force northwesterlies diminishing to strong northwesterlies late in the day.
