ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 11:21 AM AST TUESDAY 14 DECEMBER 2010.


AN INTENSE AND SLOW MOVING TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE MOVED INTO WESTERN

NEW BRUNSWICK EARLY MONDAY AND SLOWLY TRACKED ACROSS THE

PROVINCE TO LIE OVER EASTERN AREAS THIS MORNING. VERY HEAVY BANDS OF

RAIN, WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS, AFFECTED WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE

PROVINCE FOR THE BALANCE OF MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT BEFORE ENDING

THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. OVER SOUTHERN AND EASTERN SECTIONS

STRONG SOUTHEAST WINDS WERE EXPERIENCED MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

AN INTENSE TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WHICH BROUGHT HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG

WINDS TO MANY AREAS OF MAINLAND NOVA SCOTIA ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY

IS CURRENTLY SITUATED NEAR CAPE BRETON. THE TROUGH IS EXPECTED TO

WEAKEN THIS EVENING AND THE RAIN AND WIND ARE FORECAST TO TAPER

OFF THIS EVENING AS WELL.
