Special weather statement for New Brunswick issued by Environment

Canada at 3:52 PM AST Monday 17 January 2011.



A low pressure system is expected to develop off the Carolinas on

Tuesday and intensify as it moves northeastward towards the

Maritimes. Current indications are that this will bring messy

conditions to New Brunswick Tuesday night and early Wednesday.

Snow is expected to develop over southwestern sections Tuesday night

and then spread across the province.

Over southern sections of New Brunswick the snowfall amounts will be

generally less than 5 cm and the snow will change overnight

To rain with a brief period of freezing rain during the change

Over.

Precipitation will remain as snow over northern portions of the

province where amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected by Wednesday

morning.



The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as warnings may be

required.

Canada at 3:54 PM AST Monday 17 January 2011.



A low pressure system is expected to develop off the Carolinas on

Tuesday and intensify as it moves northeastward towards the

Maritimes. This low is expected to bring snow Tuesday evening which

will change quickly to rain overnight. Snowfall amounts will be

generally slight. There is a risk of a brief period of freezing rain

over some locations in the change over. Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10

mm are expected over northern and Eastern Nova Scotia. However over

Southwestern Nova Scotia rainfall amounts could exceed 20 mm and

rainfall warnings may be required.



The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as warnings may be

required over Northern Nova Scotia.

MORNING AND SPREAD INTO CENTRAL VERMONT BY MID MORNING. THE SNOW

COULD MIX WITH SLEET AT TIMES TUESDAY EVENING BEFORE TAPERING

OFF TO SNOW SHOWERS ON WEDNESDAY MORNING.



* IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
