Snowfall warning for

Woodstock and Carleton County continued

15 to 20 centimeters of snow by this evening or early Saturday morning.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system will intensify rapidly as it tracks along the eastern seaboard today. The low is forecast to move across the Bay of Fundy this evening and to lie over the Gulf of St Lawrence by Saturday morning. Light snow that is currently falling in many areas will become heavy at times later this afternoon or early this evening as the system approaches the Maritimes. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres are expected for most of the region. For areas along the Bay of Fundy the snow is forecast to become mixed with or change briefly to rain this evening as temperatures rise just above the freezing mark.

Strong winds and blowing snow are also a concern for eastern parts of the province tonight and Saturday. Over the Acadian Peninsula strong winds gusting up to 90 km/h will cause visibilities to drop to near zero in blowing snow. Conditions are forecast to improve throughout the day Saturday.
