Avalon Peninsula North continued

Southwesterly winds gusting up to 100 km/h will continue today.

This is a warning that potentially damaging winds are occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

An intense low pressure system currently over Northeastern Newfoundland will move to lie northeast of the island by this evening. Strong southwesterly winds with gusts up to 100 km/h will continue today on the Avalon and Bonavista Peninsulas associated with this feature. As the low continues to move northeastward this afternoon, strong northwesterly winds are expected along the Northeast Coast and Northern Avalon with gusts up to 90 km/h. Winds are expected to diminish by midnight.
