Avalon Peninsula South issued

Near 25 millimeters of rain has already been observed near Cape Race. A further 25 to 35 millimeters are expected by Saturday afternoon before tapering off.

A low pressure system south of the Avalon Peninsula this evening will track northeastward to lie southeast of the Avalon Peninsula overnight. The low will then stall over the Grand Banks on Saturday before moving off to the east Saturday night into Sunday. The rain is expected to spread northward over the Avalon Peninsula overnight.
