Mid-January Eastern Newfoundland Weather Bomb Event Summary

SPECIAL WEATHER SUMMARY MESSAGE FOR NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR ISSUED 
BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 12:31 AM NST SATURDAY 21 JANUARY 2012.

ON FRIDAY MORNING, A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKING NORTHEASTWARD 
PASSED JUST SOUTHEAST OF CAPE RACE. THE LOW CONTINUED TO TRACK EAST 
OF THE AVALON PENINSULA THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON BEFORE CONTINUING 
OUT TO SEA ON FRIDAY EVENING. THIS SYSTEM BROUGHT HEAVY SNOW, HIGH 
WINDS AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING SNOW TO EASTERN
NEWFOUNDLAND THROUGHOUT MUCH OF THE DAY ON FRIDAY.
