Last Updated: Jun 30, 2012 9:02 PM ATEnvironment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of New Brunswick Saturday night, and added people should keep an eye out for tornadoes.
The tornado warning, which ended after 7 p.m., included areas north of Fredericton — around Stanley and Doaktown.
CBC Meteorologist Kalin Mitchell said the storm dropped the temperature in Fredericton from 31 C to 23 C in just two hours.
Environment Canada also issued a severe thunderstorm warning in Prince County, P.E.I. It said the area should expect heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hailstones.
A lightning strike left 14,000 people without power around Summerside Saturday evening.
The bolt hit a transformer at the Sherbrooke substation. Power to most of the homes was restored within hours.
