Winter storm warning in effect for:
- Queens County P.E.I.
On Wednesday an intensifying low pressure system will track across the Bay of Fundy and into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Snow will begin overnight and intensify Wednesday morning. The snow will become mixed with or change to rain Wednesday afternoon.
Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres are currently forecast with highest amounts expected over eastern areas of the island. Easterly winds gusting to 90 km/h combined with the heavy snow will result in blowing snow giving near zero visibilities in whiteout conditions on Wednesday. Winds will shift to the southwest Wednesday afternoon and gust near 70 km/h.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #PEStorm.

Snowfall warning in effect for:
- Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
On Wednesday an intensifying low pressure system will track across the Bay of Fundy and into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Snow at times heavy will begin overnight and changeover to rain along the Atlantic coast by morning. Snow will change to rain Wednesday morning as temperatures rise above zero and to flurries in the afternoon as temperatures drop below freezing.
Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are currently expected. Easterly winds gusting to 50 km/h will give local blowing snow and reduced visibilities on Wednesday. Winds will shift to the southwest in the afternoon and gust near 80 km/h along parts of the coast.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.
Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
