Winter Storm Petros Update Three

Rainfall warning in effect for:
  • Yarmouth County
Rain, heavy at times is expected.

A low pressure system southwest of Nova scotia will track slowly northeastward and into southern Quebec on Thursday. Rain will taper to showers this evening then reintensify on Thursday as a cold front tracks over the area. Total rainfall amounts of up to 50 mm are possible by Thursday evening.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Rainfall warning in effect for:
  • Saint John and County
Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

A low pressure system will push a warm front over New Brunswick today. Snow ahead of the front will change to rain as the front pushes northward this afternoon. A brief period of freezing rain is possible over inland areas around midday. The rain will intensify early Thursday and taper off late in the day. Rainfall amounts of 25 to 50 mm are expected by Thursday evening.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
