A low pressure system approaching from southern Ontario will bring ice pellets and freezing rain to much of northern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island beginning Friday morning. The icy conditions will end in the afternoon as temperatures climb above zero. There is uncertainty about the duration and intensity of the freezing rain at this time. Warnings may be issued if conditions are expected to worsen.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

• Fredericton and Southern York County

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

A low pressure system approaching from southern Ontario will bring a mixture of precipitation types to New Brunswick overnight Thursday and through Friday. Across central New Brunswick light snow will begin tonight and continue into Friday morning before changing to ice pellets then to freezing rain some time late in the morning or early in the afternoon. The duration and intensity of the freezing rain is expected to last several hours.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

• Campbellton and eastern half of Restigouche County
• western half of Restigouche County

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

A low pressure system approaching from southern Ontario will bring snow to northern New Brunswick beginning tonight. Snow will intensify on Friday with 15 to 20 centimeters forecast across the north. Snow will likely change to ice pellets later in the day with a possibility of freezing rain late in the afternoon.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

A low pressure system approaching from southern Ontario will cross southern New Brunswick on Friday. This system will bring light snow to southern parts of the province overnight. Snow will change through ice pellets freezing rain then finally to rain across the south on Friday. It is possible that a period of freezing rain could affect southern New Brunswick and warnings have been issued for freezing rain across central regions of the province. Motorists are expected to use extra caution if travelling.
