Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
- Stanley - Doaktown - Blackville Area
Doppler radar indicates that damaging wind between 80 km/h and 100 km/h, heavy downpours, and hail will affect the area over the next hour due to a strong thunderstorm currently located 10 km north of Deersdale and travelling southeast at 50 km/h toward Gaspereaux Forks and Boiestown.
Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #NBStorm.
