Wind warning in effect for:

Queens County P.E.I.
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

A developing low pressure system approaching from Cape Cod will intensify rapidly as it moves northeastward to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence this evening.

Very strong and gusty westerly winds, up to 100 km/h, will develop this evening and gradually diminish overnight tonight. This will give a chance of reduced visibilities in blowing snow.

In addition, very large waves causing heavy pounding surf will combine to give higher than normal water levels near high tide tonight.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor the development of this storm and provide updates as new information becomes available.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.weatheraspc.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #PEStorm.
