ARNOTT
10:36 PM ADT Thursday 18 April 2019
Rainfall warning in effect for:
Grand Falls and Victoria County
Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.
An extended period of rain is expected during the Easter weekend.
Rain along with warmer temperatures will continue through to Sunday as a series of low pressure systems passes west of New Brunswick. The rain will be mixed with some snow or ice pellets during the start of the precipitation tonight. The rain will ease during the day on Friday before intensifying on Friday night.
Rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm are forecast for tonight through Friday afternoon. Additional amounts are expected Friday night through Sunday, bringing the total rainfall over the three days to 50 to 80 mm with a possibility of more than 100 mm over portions of the Northwest.
This rainfall combined with snowmelt will enhance the threat of flooding.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NBstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NBStorm.
