...Winter storm to affect the region late today into Tuesday...
.Low pressure will track across southern New England today and
along the Maine coast tonight and Tuesday morning. The low will
pull away and into the Maritimes Tuesday afternoon. The low will
bring snow to far northern Maine with mixed precipitation to most
of the remainder of the region. The storm will bring mostly rain
to the immediate coast.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO 6 PM EST TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow and sleet expected. Total snow accumulations
of 7 to 12 inches and sleet accumulations of around one
quarter of an inch expected. The highest snow totals will
likely be across the Saint John Valley with the best chance of
sleet mixing in from Presque Isle south.
* WHERE...Portions of Central Highlands, Far Northern and North
Woods Maine.
* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 6 PM EST Tuesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening
commute.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Storm Warning for snow and sleet means severe winter
weather conditions will make travel extremely dangerous. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.

Special weather statement in effect for:
Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
Approaching storm to bring snow, ice pellets, freezing rain and rain to the province tonight and Tuesday.
The precipitation will start as snow tonight and then transition to rain along the Fundy Coast overnight and over eastern New Brunswick Tuesday morning. 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected, and will be followed by a period of freezing rain and ice pellets over eastern New Brunswick before the changeover to rain.
The travelling public are urged to prepare for potentially difficult driving conditions in the snow and mixed precipitation.

Queens County P.E.I.
Approaching storm to give mixed precipitation Tuesday and Tuesday night.
A developing low pressure system will affect Prince Edward Island beginning tonight. Precipitation will begin as snow overnight and change to rain on Tuesday morning. Currently 5 to 10 centimetres of snowfall is forecast before the changeover to rain Tuesday morning. Indications are that rainfall amounts on Tuesday could be near 25 millimetres.
The travelling public are urged to prepare for potentially difficult driving conditions in snow and mixed precipitation late tonight and Tuesday morning.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:
Fredericton and Southern York County
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.
Approaching storm to bring snow, ice pellets, freezing rain and rain to the province tonight and Tuesday.
The precipitation will start as snow tonight and changeover to ice pellets and freezing rain overnight or Tuesday morning. An extended period of freezing rain is likely before a changeover to rain. Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm are expected.
The travelling public are urged to prepare for potentially difficult driving conditions in the snow and mixed precipitation.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Special weather statement in effect for:
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Approaching storm to bring significant rainfall Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
A developing system will affect Nova Scotia beginning late tonight or early Tuesday. Over northern areas of the province, precipitation will begin tonight as a period of snow before changing to rain early Tuesday morning. Snowfall amounts are forecast to be 5 centimetres or less before the changeover. Over southern areas, precipitation is forecast to begin as rain early Tuesday morning.
Indications are that rainfall amounts could reach or exceed 50 millimetres over some areas before precipitation changes to flurries Wednesday morning.
The travelling public are urged to prepare for potentially difficult driving conditions in areas of northern Nova Scotia and western Cape Breton receiving snow.

Winter storm warning in effect for:
Woodstock and Carleton County
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
Approaching storm to bring snow, ice pellets, freezing rain and rain to the province tonight and Tuesday.
The precipitation will start as snow tonight and persist over extreme northwestern New Brunswick on Tuesday. Areas just south of this zone will see the snow mix with or change over to ice pellets and freezing rain on Tuesday. An extended period of freezing rain is possible in this area. The snow will persist Tuesday evening but then taper off by midnight. Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 cm are expected.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
