Possibly Historic End Of April Snowstorm Update One
URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Gray ME
316 PM EDT Sat Apr 25 2020
...HEAVY WET SNOW POSSIBLE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY...
.A classic nor`easter will lead to a very difficult forecast
starting Sunday night through Monday. This is expected to be a
significant system with around 1 inch of liquid equivalent
precipitation. It will also be a cold storm with temperatures
falling into the 30s as the heaviest precipitation moves in
overnight. This will lead to areas of heavy wet snow developing,
especially at the higher elevation. Some accumulation is expected
down into lower elevations as well, and given the expected impacts
from tree damage a winter storm watch is highlighting areas most
likely to see more than 4 inches of snow on average. There remains
a chance that snowfall amounts could be higher, or that
precipitation remains mostly rain or snow does not accumulate
efficiently. The forecast is expected to be somewhat fluid until
shortly before precipitation begins.
