Forest Fire Burning Near Halifax

Special air quality statement in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Smoke is causing poor air quality and reducing visibility. Smoke is expected or occurring.

Location: Porters Lake near exit 19 of Highway 107

Smoke originating from a forest fire occurring near highway 107 exit 19 has reduced the visibility across parts of highway and region. Currently sections of highway 107 are closed due to the smoke and vicinity of the forest fire to the highway. Smoke may descend close to the ground and reduce air quality for an extended period of time. Wind conditions will improve early this evening assisting efforts to contain the fire.
