Winter Storm John Update One

3:50 PM AST Friday 01 January 2021
Snowfall warning in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Snowfall with total amounts of 20 to 30 cm is expected.

Locations: Nova Scotia

Time span: Saturday morning until overnight Saturday night.

Remarks: The highest accumulations will occur over northern and eastern areas of the province where locally higher snowfall amounts could approach 30 cm by the storm's end overnight Saturday night. Furthermore, strong east to northeast winds gusting to 60 to 80 km/h may significantly reduce visibility in blowing snow.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Road closures are possible. Heavy snowfall accumulation may cause tree branches to break.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
