TO 7 PM EST SATURDAY...


* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8

  inches, highest amounts over the higher terrain.


* WHERE...Northeast Aroostook, Northwest Aroostook, Northern

  Piscataquis and Northern Somerset Counties.


* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 7 PM EST Saturday.


* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous

  conditions could impact the evening commute and post holiday

  travel. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather

conditions will make travel extremely dangerous. If you must travel,

keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of

an emergency.

southwest Maine, western Maine and northern New Hampshire.

Rain is expected to gradually turn to snow from north to south late

this afternoon through the evening. A slushy 1-2" of snow

accumulation is possible, which could result in locally slick travel

conditions.


Westerly wind gusts may reach 35 mph late tonight.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.


No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

Significant snowfall expected this evening into Saturday.


Total snowfall forecast: 10 to 15 cm.


Locations: northwestern New Brunswick.


Remarks: A mixture of wet snow, rain, and a period of freezing rain will spread across the region today. The precipitation will transition fully to snow this evening, with amounts likely in excess of 10 cm.


Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing winter road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.
