Northeast as the frontal boundary moves offshore...

Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and northern

At 900 PM EST...A sharp cold front with multiple low pressure
waves that has brought widespread wintry precipition to the
central and eastern regions of the country has begun to move
offshore. A main low pressure center was analzyed off the
southeastern Nova Scotia coast with a central pressure of 1008 mb
or 29.77 inches of mercury. Surface observations and RADAR
indicated that the bulk of the precipitation was located along the
frontal boundary and was confined to coastal sections of the
Eastern Seaboard with light to moderate snowfall being reported in
Maine, and a wintry mixture further south in southern New England,
Long Island, eastern New Jersey, before transitioning to mainly
rain in the Mid-Atlantic.

As the frontal boundary continues to progress offshore, wintry
precipitation will come to end overnight across much of New
England and the Mid-Atlantic. Portions of eastern Maine could
receive an additonal 1-2 inches of snowfall before tapering off
before Saturday morning. Further south, coastal sections that have
dropped below freezing may experience lingering snow showers or
wintry precipitation that could lead to slick roads and
potentially hazardous travel conditons.

A low pressure system approached the Maritimes from the southwest on
Friday and is currently passing just south of Nova Scotia. Snow
developed well ahead of the system Thursday night and tapered to
flurries this morning. A prolonged period of ice pellets mixed at
times with snow was seen along the Fundy coast.
The following is a summary of observations received by Environment
Canada as of 10 a.m. AST.
Northern New Brunswick along the Quebec Border and Bay of Chaleur:
10 cm of snow
Remainder of Northern New Brunswick: 20 to 40 cm of snow

A low pressure system approached the Maritimes from the southwest
this morning and is currently passing just south of Nova Scotia.
Snow developed well ahead of the system last night for much of the
province and became heavy at times today. A prolonged period of ice
pellets mixed at times with snow was seen over along the Fundy
coast. The snow continues into this evening but is much lighter now.
The following is a summary of observations received by Environment
Canada as of 10 p.m. AST.
Northern New Brunswick along the Quebec Border and Bay of Chaleur:

A low pressure system approached the Maritimes from the southwest
Friday morning and is currently passing just south of Nova Scotia.
Snow, ice pellets, freezing rain and rain developed well ahead of
the system Thursday night and became heavy at times Friday. The
precipitation tapered to flurries for most of the province this
morning. Additionally as of 11 am, approximately 45,000 customers
are without power.
The following is a summary of weather event information received by
Environment Canada at 11 am Saturday February 05, 2022.
Cumberland County: 30 to 50 cm of snow with some ice pellets mixed
in.
Annapolis Valley, Central Nova Scotia and parts of eastern Nova
Scotia: 10-20 cm of ice pellets with freezing rain also mixed in.
Cape Breton Highlands: 20 cm of snow with freezing rain and ice
pellets mixed in.
Inland areas away from the Atlantic Coast and north to the already
mentioned areas: Freezing rain with amounts of 30 to 50 mm of
freezing rain. Halifax Airport (CYHZ) reported approximately 29
hours of freezing rain.
Atlantic Coast: 30 to 80 mm of rain changing over to freezing rain
Friday night.
