Scattered snow showers over the Great Lakes region will continue
to dissipate through tonight as the vertically-stacked low
pressure system over the upper Midwest continues to weaken.
However, downwind areas of Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, and Lake
Ontario will see heavy lake effect snows through this weekend as
cold west-northwesterly flow continues on the back side of the
coastal low. Winter Storm Warnings over western Maine will expire
today as the axis of moderate snow makes its way into Canada, with
light additional accumulations expected. Winter Storm Criteria
impacts will remain over eastern interior Maine through Monday
morning. Travel may become dangerous or impossible at times within
heavy lake-effect snow bands. Be sure to refer to WPC or your
local NWS office to access the latest forecasts and learn about
potential impacts to your area.
This will be the last Storm Summary issued by the Weather
Prediction Center for this event. Please refer to your local
National Weather service office for additional information.
