tonight in the Northeast and Great Lakes Region. Snow associated
with this system is expected to come to an end during the day on
Friday.

Discussion.
A low pressure system over the Great Lakes region approached the
Maritimes
Thursday morning and tracked across New Brunswick Thursday
afternoon. This system brought heavy snow to northern regions of the
province and heavy rain to southern areas. Precipitation started as
snow near midnight Wednesday night over western areas of the
province and spread to the remainder of the province by early
Thursday morning. Snow changed through ice pellets and freezing rain
to rain over most areas of the province during the day. In addition,
strong southeasterly winds occurred over southern and eastern
coastal sections of the province.

Discussion.
An intense low pressure system tracked northeastward across the
Maritimes on Thursday, across eastern Labrador Thursday night, and
over the Labrador Sea this morning. The system brought a shot of
snow and freezing precipitation then rain to most of southwestern,
western, northern, and central Newfoundland Thursday into Thursday
night. The rest of the island received only rain with this system.
The big story with this storm were the widespread winds. The
strongest winds were in the west while easternmost areas were spared
the worst of it.

A Texas Low brought significant snowfall to southern Ontario
Wednesday into today. Snowfall continues over portions of eastern
Ontario this afternoon. Peak snowfall rates of 3 to 6 centimetres
per hour were reported in many locations making for hazardous
travel. In addition to the intense snowfall, thundersnow was
observed over portions of extreme southwestern Ontario, Niagara and
in the Kingston area.
