Discussion.
A major weather system from the Southeastern United States has
brought heavy rainfall, strong winds and record temperatures to most
regions of the province. The heavy rain caused streams to overflow
in several regions, especially over the north shore of the St
Lawrence River, and power outages in the Lower St Lawrence.
Landslides in Shawinigan and Sainte-Victoire-de-Sorel, ice jams on
the Belle-Rivière river (Lac-Saint-Jean) and on the Etchemin river
(Beauce) as well as road closures and flooding have also been
reported.

Light precipitation in southern Maine is forecast to end tonight.
Cold air in the wake of the storm will lead to heavy lake effect
snowfall downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario through tonight.
