Marine Forecast issued for Southeastern Grand Banks.
Issued: 8.00 PM NST on Wednesday 29 March 2006. Synopsis:
A low pressure system just east of the Grand Banks will move slowly away from the marine district tonight. A trough extending from the low to the Belle Isle Bank will move slowly to lie over the northeast coast on Thursday. Strong to gale force winds near the low diminish to moderate to strong northwesterlies south of the trough. Winds shift to moderate to strong northeasterlies north of the trough.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for South Coast...East Coast...Funk Island Bank...Northern Grand Banks western half and the southern Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that an ice pressure warning is in effect for Belle Isle eastern half and the northeast coast Until later this evening.
Forecast:
Storm warning downgraded to gale warning.
Winds northwest 30 to gales 40 knots diminishing to northwest Winds 20 to 25 Thursday morning. Occasional rain. Visibility fair In rain. Little temperature change.
Outlook for Friday...Moderate winds increasing to strong Northerlies.
