Easter Weekend Snowstorm Update Four

Stanley - Doaktown - Blackville Area issued

15 to 20 centimeters of snow is expected tonight into Sunday morning.

A low pressure system approaching Nova Scotia will intensify as it moves northward to lie over the Gulf of St Lawrence by Sunday morning and over Northern New Brunswick by Sunday evening. Snow at times heavy from this system will begin near midnight tonight before diminishing in intensity near midday Sunday. Northeast regions of New Brunswick could potentially see total snowfall amounts up to 30 centimetres from this event. Northeast regions are also likely to see visibility reduced in blowing snow on Sunday morning potentially making travelling conditions difficult. As a result of the higher snowfalls and potential for blowing snow the snowfall warning that was previously in effect for northeast regions has been upgraded to a winter storm warning. Other regions of Eastern New Brunswick where a snowfall warning is in effect are likely to see total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres. Lesser snowfall amounts are expected over Western New Brunswick.

Strong northerly winds tonight and Sunday combined with high tide will produce high waves and rough pounding surf along the shorelines in the Gulf of St Lawrence overnight and into Sunday afternoon.
