Rainfall warning for
Lunenburg County continued

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected for Friday night in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A developing low pressure system will approach from New England tonight and Friday. Rain ahead of the system is expected to begin late Friday afternoon over extreme Southwest Nova Scotia before spreading to Northeast Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island by late Friday evening. The rain will be heavy at times Friday night with total rainfall amounts near 30 millimetres expected along the Atlantic coast from Yarmouth County to Lunenburg County inclusive. Lesser rainfall amounts are expected elsewhere Friday night however additional rainfall warnings may become required as the rain spreads to Eastern Nova Scotia on Saturday.

It should also be noted that a brief period of snow is possible for the Cobequid Pass area of Cumberland County late Friday evening before a changeover to rain near midnight.

The low pressure system will also bring strengthening southeast winds over the Maritimes Friday night. Over Cape Breton southeast winds..Les Suetes..are expected to gust to near 100 km/h late Friday night or more specifically towards dawn Saturday.

A low pressure system will approach New Brunswick from New England on
Friday.  Snow will spread across Northern New Brunswick and rain
across Southern New Brunswick Friday afternoon and evening.

The snow over northern sections will change through ice pellets to
rain with a risk of freezing rain during the changeover.
Snowfall amounts in the north could exceed 10 centimetres before the
changeover.

Over southwestern sections rainfall amounts over 20 millimetres are
likely.

In addition, gusty southeasterly winds to 70 or 80 km/h over some
coastal areas are forecast.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as
warnings may be required or extended.
