      NOVA SCOTIA
      PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND.

      FOR REMNANT OF POST-TROPICAL DEPRESSION GABRIELLE.

      THE NEXT STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED BY 3:00 AM ADT.

      RAIN FROM GABRIELLE MOVING AWAY FROM NOVA SCOTIA ACROSS THE
      GULF TO WESTERN NEWFOUNDLAND.

==DISCUSSION==
1. SUMMARY OF BASIC INFORMATION AT 12.00 AM ADT.

LOCATION: NEAR 45.8 NORTH 62.0 WEST, OR NEAR CAPE GEORGE.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS: 55 KM/H.

PRESENT MOVEMENT: NORTH-NORTHEAST AT 56 KM/H.

MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE: 1001 MB.

GABRIELLE IS WEAKENING AND MERGING INTO A BROAD TROUGH OVER THE GULF. 
THE SURFACE WINDS HAVE STEADILY DIMINISHED TO MARGINAL GALE FORCE, 
WITH THE HIGHEST GUSTS OBSERVED RECENTLY BELOW 70 KM/H.  GIVEN THIS 
AND THE UNFAVOURABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR MAINTAINING THE STRENGTH OF THE 
SYSTEM, WE WILL PROBABLY END MESSAGING ON THIS SYSTEM AT 3:00 AM.

THE RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF GABRIELLE HAS MOVED 
NORTHEAST OF THE MARITIME PROVINCES INTO THE GULF AND IS STARTING TO 
IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN NEWFOUNDLAND.  MANY AREAS OF NOVA SCOTIA HAVE 
RECEIVED BETWEEN 30 AND 50 MILLIMETRES OF RAIN, WITH SOME PARTS OF 
THE WEST RECEIVING AROUND 70 MILLIMETRES.  THE HIGHEST REPORT SO FAR 
IS PARRSBORO WHERE 72.7 MILLIMETRES FELL DURING THE STORM.
