Snowfall warning for
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West continued

Up to 25 centimetres of snow expected today.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system currently southwest of the province will intensify as it tracks northeastward along the Atlantic coastline to lie over Cape Breton early this evening.

Snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 centimetres are expected for the province except about 10 centimetres expected along parts of the Atlantic coast as there is a changeover to rain for those areas. Strong winds will create blowing snow causing reduced visibilities for northern regions. The snow is expected to taper to flurries this afternoon over western regions and this evening for eastern regions except for exposed areas of Cape Breton where snow will persist tonight.

In addition Les Suetes winds gusting to 130 km/h are forecast this afternoon as the low approaches Cape Breton.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as additional warnings may be required.
