This is usually the time to put away winter parkas and break out the spring jackets — however winter refuses to release its icy grip on Halifax.

For a 47th day this winter, the overnight winter parking ban continues in Halifax to help snow clearing crews in the city.

The ban will be enforced from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. April 8 as crews deal with this morning's snow.

Tiffany Chase, speaking for the city, says 200 tickets were handed out during Monday night's parking ban.

Usually the parking ban is used during bad weather until March 31. However, this year the traffic authority extended the regulations until April 15.

"It has been a difficult winter season," reads a city release.
