* COASTAL FLOODING...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR COASTAL FLOODING
AROUND MIDDAY THURSDAY NEAR THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE.
* TIMING...LATE THURSDAY MORNING INTO THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

HIGH TIDE OCCURRING AT 1237 AM IN PORTLAND. IN ADDITION...A HIGH
ASTRONOMICAL TIDE OF 10.9 FEET IN PORTLAND WILL COMBINE WITH A STORM
SURGE OF AROUND A FOOT. THIS MAY LEAD TO AREAS OF COASTAL
FLOODING...HENCE A COASTAL FLOOD WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR A FEW
HOURS NEAR TIME OF HIGH TIDE.
VULNERABLE AREAS PRONE TO MINOR FLOODING TONIGHT INCLUDE THE
BACKBAY AREA OF HAMPTON...GRANITE POINT REGION IN
BIDDEFORD...NEARBY WHARF STREETS IN PORTLAND. IN ADDITION...BATH
AND WOOLWICH WILL NEED TO BE MONITORED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF
MINOR FLOODING.
TUESDAY...A HIGHER ASTRONOMICAL TIDE OF 11.7 FEET WITH A STORM
SURGE OF ONE HALF TO AS MUCH AS 1 FOOT WILL OCCUR AT 1252 PM. NEAR
SHORE WAVES WILL CONTINUE 8 TO 10 FEET AND MAY ONCE AGAIN CAUSE
COASTAL FLOODING PROBLEMS ALONG THE COAST.

An intensifying low pressure system will track across Ontario tonight and into Quebec on Thursday. Ahead of this system rain and strong southeast winds will develop later tonight and continue on Thursday. These strong winds in combination with a high tidal cycle will give elevated coastal water levels at the high tide on Thursday. Additionally heavy pounding surf is expected along parts of the Fundy coastline later on Thursday.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
