* IMPACTS...SNOW WILL RESULT IN DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS.
  HEAVY WET SNOW MAY CAUSE TREE BRANCHES TO SNAP WITH POWER

  WILL MIX IN AT LOWER ELEVATIONS.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 6 INCHES.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY TODAY.
  LOWER ELEVATIONS WILL SEE A MIX WITH RAIN OR JUST PLAIN RAIN
  AT TIMES. THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER THE HIGHER
  ELEVATIONS ABOVE 3000 FEET.

* IMPACTS...SLIPPERY TRAVEL AND WIDELY SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES
  WHERE THE SNOW IS WET.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
A low pressure system approaching from New England will spread rain from west to east across mainland Nova Scotia. Rain has begun over

southwestern Nova Scotia and will spread eastward reaching Cape Breton Island by tonight. Rainfall amounts of 25-35 millimetres are expected, but

could reach or exceed 50 millimetres locally. The areas of highest risk are along the Atlantic Coasts of Mainland Nova Scotia, and Cape Breton. Rainfall

warnings may be required today.

In addition strong southeasterly winds gusting to 80 kilometres per hours are expected along much of the Atlantic coast of mainland Nova Scotia and

Cape Breton Island, beginning this afternoon in the west and moving east to Cape Breton tonight. These winds may reach or exceed 90 kilometres per

hour, in which case wind warnings may be required.
