Winter Storm Niko Update Four
3:01 PM AST Thursday 09 February 2017
Winter storm warning in effect for:
Acadian Peninsula
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
An intense low pressure system will track south of Nova Scotia tonight. This system will bring snow and blowing snow to much of eastern and southern New Brunswick. Light snow will spread eastward early this evening then intensify. Winds associated with this system will combine with the snow to produce reduced visibilities tonight. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected although extreme southeast regions are likely to see up to 30 centimetres. Conditions are expected to improve overnight or towards dawn Friday.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.weatheraspc.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #NBStorm.
