Mid-November Nor'Easter Update Three

Wind warning in effect for:

Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

A rapidly intensifying low pressure system approaching from the southwest will track northeastward across the Gulf of St. Lawrence overnight to lie over northern Newfoundland by Wednesday afternoon.

Strong southerly winds will develop ahead of the low this evening and will shift to strong westerly overnight behind the system.

Westerly winds will continue to increase throughout Wednesday with gusts reaching up to 90 km/h by Wednesday afternoon which will persist into Wednesday evening. Winds are expected to begin to ease on Thursday.

Additionally, rough and pounding surf can be expected along west to northwest facing shorelines of northeastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton on Wednesday associated with the strong westerly winds.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Wind warning in effect for:

Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

A rapidly intensifying low pressure system will move across southeastern New Brunswick tonight and into the Gulf of St. Lawrence on Wednesday. Strong westerly winds will develop in the wake of this low in the early morning hours on Wednesday and will gust up to 90 km/h in the southeast and to 110 km/h in the northeast. Winds will begin to diminish later Wednesday evening, but will remain strong with gusts to up 70 km/h expected Wednesday overnight.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
