On Friday, December 21, 2018, a developing low pressure system over
the eastern United States began to intensify as it tracked
northward. As the low pressure system tracked west of the Maritimes,
freezing rain eventually changed over to rain at times heavy as an
unseasonably warm and humid airmass moved through the region. Rain
and warm temperatures persisted into Saturday, December 22, 2018.
