Winter Storm Indra Update One

Coastal Hazard Message
National Weather Service Gray ME
308 PM EST Wed Jan 23 2019

...Some beach erosion and splash-over possible Thursday...

.Low pressure will race across central portions of New England on
Thursday. Ahead of this system, strong southerly winds will allow
for building waves during a period of high astronomical tides.
The combination of high water levels and building near-shore waves
may allow for some beach erosion and splash-over around the time
of high tide during the early afternoon hours.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Acadian Peninsula
Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

A prolonged period of freezing rain is expected.

Snow is expected to change to freezing rain overnight or Thursday morning. The freezing rain will then to rain Thursday morning over central and western regions and Thursday evening over northeastern New Brunswick. It is possible that the freezing rain accumulation will be significant.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NBstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NBStorm.
