Winter Storm Caleb Update One

3:50 PM AST Monday 11 November 2019
Rainfall warning in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Approaching storm will bring significant rainfall Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Rain will begin late tonight or early Tuesday morning across much of Nova Scotia and will continue, heavy at times, into Tuesday night. Total rainfall accumulations are expected to be quite variable, with forecast amounts ranging from 30 to 65 mm and locally higher amounts possible along parts of the Atlantic coast.

Rain will change to flurries over western Nova Scotia late Tuesday night as cold westerly winds move into the region and temperatures quickly fall below freezing. Driving conditions may become icy overnight or Wednesday morning as the cold air and flurries push eastward across the province.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
