...Snow is now abating across Maine with Lake Effect Snow bands
persisting off the Great Lakes...

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for a small portion of
northern Wisconsin, parts of northern New York, and east-central
Maine.

Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in affect for extreme northwestern
PA, and far Southwestern NY off Lake Erie.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of Michigan,
near Lake Erie, and northern New England.

Lake shore Flood Warnings are in effect for the southeastern
shores of Lake Michigan and the eastern coastlines of Lake Ontario.

At 900 AM EST...Surface observations depicted a surface low with a
minimum central pressure of 996 millibars, or 29.4 inches of
mercury, located near far eastern Maine.  National Weather Service
Doppler radars indicate light snow over eastern Maine continuing
to abate and exiting over New Brunswick, Canada.  A corridor of
broken showers existed from northern Florida to southeastern North
Carolina ahead of the cold front.  With strong cold air advection
of the Great Lakes, Lake Effect snow bands continue downstream of
Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, and to a lesser degree from Lake
Michigan and Lake Superior.

.......The new surface low that has developed near Maine will continue to
strengthen as it crosses Southeast Canada through today.  Some
additional light snow will continue across eastern Maine as the
surface low moves east.  Strong lake effect snow bands will
continue downstream of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario with an
additional 4 to 8 possible.  Improving weather can be expected
going into Monday.
