Light snow accumulations are expected tonight which will result in
slick travel conditions.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

There is another chance for snow Wednesday night into Thursday.
Currently...the best chances look to remain south of the area.

EDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6
  inches expected.

* WHERE...Kennebec County.

* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 6 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Slick travel is likely for the Tuesday morning
  commute. The wet nature of the snow could cause limbs to fall,
  resulting in power outages.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates of over one inch per hour
  are possible tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

10 AM EDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches
  expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Coastal DownEast, Interior DownEast and
  Penobscot Valley Maine.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 10 AM EDT Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Total rainfall: 20 to 40 mm.

Maximum wind gusts: 60 km/h.

Locations: Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia.

Time span: Tuesday morning until Tuesday evening.

Remarks: A mix of rain and snow will begin in southwestern Nova Scotia early Tuesday morning and spread east throughout the morning. Higher snowfall totals of 5 to 10 cm are possible further inland before completely changing over to rain in the afternoon. Rain will taper off by Tuesday evening.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Be prepared for winter conditions at higher elevations.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass
Snow, rain and wind on Tuesday.

Total snowfall: 5 to 10 cm with more possible.
Total rainfall: 10 to 25 mm with more possible.
Maximum wind gusts: easterly 40 to 60 km/h.

Location: Nova Scotia.

Time span: Tuesday morning until Tuesday evening.

Remarks: Snow will start Tuesday morning and then change to rain by late morning or afternoon over mainland Nova Scotia. The snow will mix with rain in the afternoon over southern Cape Breton. Rainfall warnings have been issued for parts of the Atlantic coast while snowfall warnings have been issued for parts of Cape Breton.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County
Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Total snowfall: 10 to 20 cm.

Maximum wind gusts: 50 to 70 km/h.

Locations: Victoria and Sydney Metro and Cape Breton counties.

Time span: Tuesday morning until late Tuesday evening.

Remarks: Snow is expected to start late Tuesday morning in Cape Breton. Snow may changeover or mix with rain in Sydney Metro and Cape Breton county in the afternoon, before switching back over to snow in the evening. Strong northerly winds will also accompany the snow Tuesday evening and continue overnight.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
