...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 to 70 mph

  expected.

* WHERE...Southern Penobscot, Interior Hancock, Central

  Washington, Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties.

* WHEN...From 6 AM to 6 PM EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and powerlines.

  Numerous to widespread power outages are likely. Travel will be

  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL IMPACTS...Anyone planning extensive and...or detailed

  holiday cooking should note that potential for strongest winds

  and highest potential for power loss during this warning period

  will be late morning through early afternoon Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around

trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of

your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if

you must drive.

  Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Northern Washington, Southern

  Piscataquis and Central Piscataquis Counties.

* WHEN...From Friday morning through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines.

  Scattered to numerous power outages are possible. Travel could

  be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Woodstock and Carleton County

Warm, wet and windy for Friday and Saturday followed by periods of snow on Saturday evening.

Total rainfall: 20 to 50 mm. Locally 60 mm possible.

Total snowfall: 5 to 10 cm and locally possibly exceeding 15 cm.

Maximum wind gusts: 70 to 90 km/h with the highest gusts along the Fundy coast, and over higher terrain, beginning on Friday and tapering off late on Saturday.

Locations: all of New Brunswick.

Time span: Light rain will begin on Friday, and intensify on Saturday before moving east of the province late on Saturday. Rain is likely to switch to snow for most areas late on Saturday and overnight into Sunday.

Remarks: A low pressure system approaching from the Great Lakes will bring rain to the province beginning on Friday and intensifying overnight into Saturday. Winds will strengthen ahead of this system, especially along the Fundy Coast and over higher terrain. Conditions will improve Saturday night.
