...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO NOON EDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph

  expected.

* WHERE...In New Hampshire, Northern Coos, Northern Grafton and

  Southern Coos Counties. In Maine, Northern Franklin and Northern

  Oxford Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to Noon EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree

  limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind gusts will be strongest immediately

  northwest of the White Mountains, Mahoosucs, and Rangeley-Stratton

  Range.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high

TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Minor coastal flooding, splash-over, and beach erosion

  due to high astronomical tides, storm surge, and building

  nearshore waves.

* WHERE...Coastal Waldo, Coastal Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln,

  Knox and Coastal York Counties.

* WHEN...From noon to 4 PM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only

  isolated road closures expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be

closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of

unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone

property.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 3 PM EDT

TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph

  expected.

* WHERE...Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties.

* WHEN...From 6 AM to 3 PM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and powerlines.

  Numerous to widespread power outages are likely. Travel will

  be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around

trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of

your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if

you must drive.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Central Highlands Maine, Far

Eastern Maine, Far Northern Maine and North Woods Maine.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Rain and snow will fall across the region Tuesday. Briefly heavy

snowfall rates are possible Tuesday morning with poor visibility and

slick travel. The highest snowfall totals are expected across the

higher elevations with 1 to 3 inches of snow possible at elevations

above 1000 feet. Amounts are expected to mostly be 1 inch or less at

the lower elevations.

Larger rivers will likely see rises mid to late week due to a

combination of snow melt and rain. At this time, flooding is not

expected, but some rivers could approach bankfull.

Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather

conditions according to Standard Operating Procedures.

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West

Significant rain and wind expected on Tuesday.

Total rainfall: 30 to 40 mm, locally higher amounts possible.

Maximum wind gusts: 80 to 90 km/h.

Locations: mainland Nova Scotia

Time span: Tuesday and Tuesday night, ending by Wednesday morning.

Remarks: Rain and strong southeast winds will spread from west to east across the province on Tuesday.

There will also be large waves and pounding surf along the Atlantic Coast Tuesday night accompanying the strong southeasterly winds.

The public is advised that rainfall warnings may be required in future forecast issues. Wind warnings are currently in effect for southwestern regions.
