Late August Rainstorm Update One

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Total rainfall: 40 to 60 millimetres. Potentially higher amounts in areas of heaviest rain.

Locations: southern New Brunswick.

Time span: tonight and into overnight Saturday.  

Remarks: Rainfall rates are expected to be heaviest Saturday morning, especially should thunderstorms develop. 

Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions and localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas,

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Time span: late tonight into Sunday morning.

Remarks: Rainfall rates are expected to be heaviest for the Annapolis Valley through to northern Nova Scotia Saturday and for the Atlantic coast Saturday night. Should thunderstorms develop rainfall rates could approach 25 mm/hour.

Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions and localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas,

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Coastal DownEast Maine and
Interior DownEast Maine.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Heavy rainfall possible, particularly in showers or isolated
thunderstorms, mainly along the Downeast Coast. This may cause
ponding and high runoff in poor drainage areas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather
conditions according to Standard Operating Procedures.
