Eastern Nova Scotia Pre-Christmas Winter Storm Update One

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring.
Total snowfall: 10 to 15 cm by Friday morning.
Locations: Inverness County - South of Mabou, Richmond County and Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County.
Time span: this evening until Friday morning.
Remarks: Strong winds combined with fresh snowfall will continue to cause widespread blowing snow. Winds are expected to ease slightly and snow will taper to flurries Friday morning.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility.
Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.

Maximum wind gusts: 90 km/h.
Locations: Inverness County - Mabou and North and Victoria County.
Time span: tonight and most of the day Friday.
Remarks: A long lasting winter storm continues to impact the area. Snow with widespread reduced visibilities in blowing snow is expected through the night and into Friday.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
