* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 5

* WHERE...Coastal Washington and Central Washington Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the Tuesday evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel extremely dangerous. If you must travel,
keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of
an emergency.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause
primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited
visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Special Weather Statement in effect for:
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Snowfall is expected today and tonight.

Snowfall totals: 5 to 15 cm with the most accumulation expected over western regions, including the Halifax area.

Locations: Central and northern Nova Scotia.

Time span: ending tonight.

Remarks: A developing system is expected to give snowfall today and tonight that will impact Holiday travel. Snowfall totals may be lower for communities along the Atlantic coast, where snow is expected to be wet or may briefly mix with rain.  

Snowfall warnings have been issued for western mainland Nova Scotia and Cumberland County - Minas Shore, where snowfall totals are expected to exceed 15 cm in 12 hours or less.

Snowfall is expected today.

Total snowfall: 10 to 15 cm.

Locations: Southeast New Brunswick.

Time span: ending tonight.

Remarks: A developing system is expected to give snowfall today, which will impact Holiday travel. Snowfall totals may exceed 15 cm in parts of Albert county, in areas of higher terrain.

Snowfall warnings have been issued in parts of southern New Brunswick where snowfall amounts are expected reach or exceed 15 cm over a period of 12 hours or less.

Snowfall Warning in effect for:
Fredericton and Southern York County
Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm, except up to 40 cm over areas of higher terrain.

Locations: Southern New Brunswick.

Time span: Ending tonight.

Remarks: Snowfall warnings are issued when greater than 15 cm of snow is expected to occur in 12 hours or less. In some localities snowfall rates briefly as high as 5 cm an hour will cause very poor visibilities and travel conditions.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Yarmouth County
Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm

Locations: Western Mainland Nova Scotia, and Cumberland County - Minas Shore.  

Time span: ending overnight tonight or early Wednesday morning.

Remarks: Snowfall warnings are issued when greater than 15 cm of snow is expected to occur in 12 hours or less. In some localities snowfall rates briefly as high as 5 cm an hour will cause very poor visibilities and travel conditions. Snowfall amounts will be lower for communities near the Atlantic coast, where snow is expected to be wet or change to rain.

There remains some uncertainty with this system and additional snowfall accumulations may be possible through the day on Wednesday.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
