Fredericton and Southern York County continued

This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system is expected to develop over New England this evening and then intensify later tonight before tracking across Southern New Brunswick on Saturday. Snow ahead of this system will begin late this evening over Southwest New Brunswick and will spread northeast to affect all regions overnight. On Saturday the center of the low pressure system is currently expected to lie just west of Grand Manan Island before dawn Saturday and will move over the Western Gulf of St Lawrence by late afternoon. Areas south of the track of the low can expect snow to change to rain before changing back to flurries. Areas north of the track of the low should see only snow. Snowfall warnings have been issued for the extreme northwest as well as for most southern areas where the changeover to rain is expected. Winter storm warnings have been issued for most central and eastern regions where total snowfall amounts up to 30 cm are expected before the snow tapers to flurries Saturday afternoon. Blizzard warnings have been issued for the Acadian Peninsula as well as the Miramichi area where snowfall up to 30 cm combined with strong winds should give near-zero visibilities on Saturday.
