Winter storm warning for
Queens County P.E.I. continued

Upwards of 25 centimetres of snow with blowing snow are expected on Sunday for central and western parts of Prince Edward Island.

This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system will develop near Cape Hatteras today and intensify as it passes south of Nova Scotia tonight and Sunday. Snow well ahead of this system is forecast to start Sunday morning for the island and continue throughout the day. Snow may change over to rain for a period over the extreme eastern parts of the island but that area is still expected to receive upwards of 15 centimetres of snow on Sunday, while areas west could receive 25 centimetres or more. In addition reduced visibilities in blowing snow can be expected as strong northerly winds develop ahead of this system. Storm surge warnings due to high water levels and large waves are expected late in the afternoon Sunday and into the evening mainly for north facing coastlines.

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West continued

Most of Mainland Nova Scotia is under a winter storm warning with upwards of 25 centimetres of snow and blowing snow expected beginning tonight and continuing Sunday.

This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system will develop near Cape Hatteras today and intensify as it passes south of Nova Scotia tonight and Sunday. This storm will bring a large swath of heavy snow to Nova Scotia along with blowing snow in strong northerly winds. 20 to 40 centimetres of snow can be expected for most of Mainland Nova Scotia with the exception of Eastern Nova Scotia which is forecast to change over to rain for several hours on Sunday before changing back to snow. In addition higher than normal water levels with rough pounding surf due to high waves are expected along the Atlantic coast Sunday morning. Storm surge warnings are in effect over Northern Nova Scotia for Antigonish County and the Cape Breton coasts along the Gulf of St Lawrence. High water levels and rough pounding surf due to high waves are expected late Sunday afternoon and in the evening.

A Les Suetes wind warning is in effect for Inverness County - Mabou and north with gust to 90 km/h beginning Sunday morning and ending in the evening.

Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick

Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick continued

Snowfall amounts of 25 centimetres or more combined with strong wind and blowing snow will develop Sunday.

This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system approaching Nova Scotia from Cape Hatteras will rapidly deepen on Sunday as it tracks just off the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia. This will spread snow and very strong winds over New Brunswick and the Gulf of St Lawrence. This will also give blowing snow which will be worst along the gulf coast of the province.

The strong winds and low pressure will produce elevated water levels along the coast from Miramichi south, and waves will be building on Sunday as well. The worst threat for coastal flooding will be Sunday evening for most of the coast north of Moncton. Southeast of Moncton the threat will be both for the afternoon and evening, but with less wave activity and more storm surge.
