Freezing rain warning for
Miramichi and area continued

Extended periods of freezing rain are expected tonight, and Sunday.

This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A trough of low pressure currently over Southern New Brunswick will drift southward tonight to lie over Southwestern Nova Scotia by Sunday morning.

Periods of freezing rain are expected over Southern and Central New Brunswick ahead of the trough this evening. As the trough shifts southward overnight, freezing rain and/or ice pellets will continue to affect much of Southern New Brunswick where it will persist through Sunday and much of Sunday night. Current indications are that the extreme southwest of the province will be the worst hit by the freezing rain and could see in excess of 12 hours and up to 30 millimetres of freezing rain.

Over Central New Brunswick freezing rain will change to snow overnight tonight and persist on Sunday giving 15 to 25 centimetres of accumulation. Snow is expected to change to or become mixed with ice pellets at times.

South of the band of freezing rain Grand Manan Island will see rain tonight and Sunday with near 40 millimetres expected.

An extended period of freezing rain is expected.

This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A trough of low pressure over Southern New Brunswick will drift southward to lie over Southwestern Nova Scotia by Sunday morning.

As the trough shifts southward overnight, freezing rain and/or ice pellets are expected to spread over most of the province. The freezing rain and/or ice pellets are expected to persist into late Sunday evening. Currently, it looks like the valley and central areas of Nova Scotia will be the worst hit by the freezing rain. Current indications suggest that these regions could see 12 hours or more of freezing rain and up to 40 millimetres of accumulation.

Southwestern Nova Scotia will see rain begin this evening and continue into Sunday evening producing up to 50 millimetres.
