Autumn Rainstorm Update Three

Rainfall warning in effect for:
  • Campbellton and eastern half of Restigouche County
  • western half of Restigouche County
A long episode of heavy rain is expected.

A slow moving cold front will bring heavy rain to the province today and tonight, with the heaviest rainfall expected to occur tonight. Total rainfall amounts of 55 to 90 millimeters are forecast over northern regions of New Brunswick, while central and southern regions of the province can expect between 120 to 175 millimeters by Thursday morning. Heavy, prolonged rainfall will create a risk of localized flooding for many parts of the province over the next 24 hours. Rain is expected to ease Thursday morning, as the frontal system slides southeastward and out of the province.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Be prepared for winter conditions at higher elevations.

Rainfall warning in effect for:
  • Kings County P.E.I.
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A slow-moving cold front will approach from the northwest and move over the province today remain nearly stationary over the Maritimes on Thursday. Rain at times heavy from this system will spread slowly from west to east across the island today and persist on Thursday. General rainfall amounts of 40 to 70 millimetres can be expected with amounts possibly exceeding 100 millimetres over parts of Prince County.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall Warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

  • Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A slow-moving cold front will approach from the northwest today and move over the region tonight then remain nearly stationary over the province on Thursday. Rain at times heavy from this system will spread slowly from northwest to southeast later today and persist on Thursday. General rainfall amounts of 50 to 90 millimetres can be expected with amounts possibly exceeding 100 millimetres in parts of northern and western Nova Scotia.

Rainfall warnings will likely be extended eastward to other parts of the province later today as this system continues to slowly develop.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
