Early September Rainstorm Update One

Rainfall warning in effect for:
- Acadian Peninsula
A low pressure system tracking through the Maritimes will continue to spread rain, heavy at times, across the province today. Rain is expected to taper to showers over western regions tonight, but persist into Saturday morning over eastern areas. Total rainfall amounts ranging from 50 to 70 millimeters are forecast for most of the province however locally higher amounts are possible.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Rainfall Warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Rainfall warning in effect for:
- Prince County P.E.I.
Periods of rain today associated with a low pressure system approaching from the southwest will change to rain at times heavy this early this evening over western areas of the island. The rain will taper to scattered showers Saturday morning as the low tracks east of the province. Rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 mm are forecast for areas of Prince County by Saturday morning whereas further east 20 to 30 mm are expected.
