Winter Storm Orson Update Two

...Major coastal storm tonight and Monday...

.A strong low pressure system will develop in the Gulf of Maine
by later tonight. Snow will become heavy overnight. Snowfall
rates of 2-4 inches per hour at times are expected to lead to
very hazardous travel conditions. Winds will increase through the
overnight hours resulting in blizzard conditions toward morning
and during the day Monday on the Mid Coast of Maine. Elsewhere
near-blizzard conditions will develop late tonight and early
Monday possibly leading to power outages.

...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST MONDAY...

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a Blizzard
Warning...which is in effect until 7 PM EST Monday. The Winter
Storm Warning is no longer in effect. The Blizzard Watch is no
longer in effect.

* HAZARD TYPES...Heavy snow, strong winds, and blowing snow.

* Accumulations...Snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches.

* TIMING...Steady snow will begin late this afternoon and become
  heavy at times overnight and Monday. Winds will increase and
  become strong late tonight and Monday and allow for blowing
  and drifting along with very low visibilities.

* IMPACTS...Treacherous travel, low visibilities, and the
  potential for power outages. Blizzard conditions will be likely
  late tonight and Monday. The snow may be briefly heavy and wet
  for a time earlier on tonight along the coast which could lead
  to power outages.

* Winds...Northeast 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

* Temperatures...In the mid 20s.

* Visibilities...one quarter mile or less at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel...have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded...stay with your vehicle.
